Trick or Treat in Love

Halloween is almost here and kids will soon be knocking on doors. They will be dressed in a variety of costumes with their bags in tow, expecting a tasteful treat. If none is given, you best to prepare yourself for a nasty trick. Sometimes love can be a Trick or a Treat. The person in whom we fall in love with may be dressed in a costume of sincerity, honesty and faithfulness. But hidden behind the mask could be a disaster waiting to wreck our lives.

So how can you know if your new love is a Trick or a Treat? You may be surprised at the answer because it is so simple...The old Fashion Way. With Time.  Relationships today is on the fast track with dating sites and dating apps being the popular craze. People meet today and marry tomorrow so to speak. I'm sure you will say there is such a thing as love at first sight. And some couples will go on to live happily ever after but those are the exceptions not the rules.

Most of the time these fast track relationships fail because the couples find themselves committed to some one they don"t really know. The time wasn't taken to fully learn and grow together. The mask has been removed and now they see a lot of things they weren't expecting.

Take your time when it comes to finding true love so your relationship won't be a Trick but a life long Treat.

Repairing Trust When its Broken

How do you repair trust when your spouse has cheated? Or your best friend lied right to your face. What about when a family member has done you wrong. When trust is broken it has no barren as to what kind of relationship it has affected, only the fact that it happened. The security blanket so to speak has been pulled and the innocent person has fallen. Gone to a certain degree are love and respect that was once shared. Now the potent question is asked. How do I trust again? The offended person will be on high alert like a police officer walking his or her beat searching for anything out of the ordinary to occur.

So to begin the healing process the acknowledgement of  the wrong must be addressed. In Dr. Phil's words' You Can't Fix What You Don't Acknowledge.'  Discussing the issue and bringing light to what may have caused the circumstance, will steer you in the right direction of resolving the problem. If the broken trust has occurred in a marriage, the spouse who have cheated must be an open book. Cell phones and emails accounts must be easily accessible by the other partner. Reassurance is critical to regain the trust that was lost. It is just as important to forgive. Forgiveness is the key to restoring the broken relationship allowing it to move forward.

And finally, renew your commitment. Having an heart-to-heart conversation about life values, morals, loyalty and expectations will help strengthen the relationship and its foundation. Repairing trust that has been broken won't be easy by far but it's definitely worth the trouble.

Changes & Acceptance

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS  I CAN AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.    Reinhuld Niebuhr

This declaration is much needed in the world today. Things have change drastically within the past twenty years and so many of them have been controversial. Who haven't seen the head lines of Bruce Jenner as he revealed himself to the world as to who he really is. Him coming out as Kaitlyn has given a new voice to the word Transgender. Same Sex Marriages have also made great strides at becoming the norm in today's society. As a nation, a melting pot of diversity we must have respect for each other rather we agree or not. As people of Faith we must show love to those who are living a different life style than our own while maintaining who we are. At the end of the day God is Love. And if we love God we must also love others. We can only change ourselves and hopefully for the better. We must have the courage to put our best foot forward staying true to who we are and living in peace with those around us  to make this world a better place. A place filled with kindness, humility and acceptance and the wisdom to know the difference.
