Trick or Treat in Love

Halloween is almost here and kids will soon be knocking on doors. They will be dressed in a variety of costumes with their bags in tow, expecting a tasteful treat. If none is given, you best to prepare yourself for a nasty trick. Sometimes love can be a Trick or a Treat. The person in whom we fall in love with may be dressed in a costume of sincerity, honesty and faithfulness. But hidden behind the mask could be a disaster waiting to wreck our lives.

So how can you know if your new love is a Trick or a Treat? You may be surprised at the answer because it is so simple...The old Fashion Way. With Time.  Relationships today is on the fast track with dating sites and dating apps being the popular craze. People meet today and marry tomorrow so to speak. I'm sure you will say there is such a thing as love at first sight. And some couples will go on to live happily ever after but those are the exceptions not the rules.

Most of the time these fast track relationships fail because the couples find themselves committed to some one they don"t really know. The time wasn't taken to fully learn and grow together. The mask has been removed and now they see a lot of things they weren't expecting.

Take your time when it comes to finding true love so your relationship won't be a Trick but a life long Treat.

Repairing Trust When its Broken

How do you repair trust when your spouse has cheated? Or your best friend lied right to your face. What about when a family member has done you wrong. When trust is broken it has no barren as to what kind of relationship it has affected, only the fact that it happened. The security blanket so to speak has been pulled and the innocent person has fallen. Gone to a certain degree are love and respect that was once shared. Now the potent question is asked. How do I trust again? The offended person will be on high alert like a police officer walking his or her beat searching for anything out of the ordinary to occur.

So to begin the healing process the acknowledgement of  the wrong must be addressed. In Dr. Phil's words' You Can't Fix What You Don't Acknowledge.'  Discussing the issue and bringing light to what may have caused the circumstance, will steer you in the right direction of resolving the problem. If the broken trust has occurred in a marriage, the spouse who have cheated must be an open book. Cell phones and emails accounts must be easily accessible by the other partner. Reassurance is critical to regain the trust that was lost. It is just as important to forgive. Forgiveness is the key to restoring the broken relationship allowing it to move forward.

And finally, renew your commitment. Having an heart-to-heart conversation about life values, morals, loyalty and expectations will help strengthen the relationship and its foundation. Repairing trust that has been broken won't be easy by far but it's definitely worth the trouble.

Changes & Acceptance

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS  I CAN AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.    Reinhuld Niebuhr

This declaration is much needed in the world today. Things have change drastically within the past twenty years and so many of them have been controversial. Who haven't seen the head lines of Bruce Jenner as he revealed himself to the world as to who he really is. Him coming out as Kaitlyn has given a new voice to the word Transgender. Same Sex Marriages have also made great strides at becoming the norm in today's society. As a nation, a melting pot of diversity we must have respect for each other rather we agree or not. As people of Faith we must show love to those who are living a different life style than our own while maintaining who we are. At the end of the day God is Love. And if we love God we must also love others. We can only change ourselves and hopefully for the better. We must have the courage to put our best foot forward staying true to who we are and living in peace with those around us  to make this world a better place. A place filled with kindness, humility and acceptance and the wisdom to know the difference.

New Year Resolutions

The time has arrived! 2014 will soon be a passing memory and we will embark upon a New Year 2015. And with it comes resolutions and you know the most popular ones. Losing weight being at the top of the list. Most of us vow to lose the love handles that seemed to have settled around our waist with no plans of ever leaving. Also must of us are determined to get our finances in order by saving money or making more of it is one I desire the most. Others may proclaim to mend broken relationships or get out of bad ones. Some may declare just to be a better person in the New Year. No matter what the intentions are, New Year Resolutions are made but are seldom kept. According to surveys only about 8 percent of us successfully achieve their New Year's resolutions to 92 percent that do not. So why do we bother to make them at all? Well my theory is the new year offer new hope, new possibilities and above all a fresh new start. Do you remember as a child learning to ride your first bike? You get on, bracing yourself for the fall you hope didn't come. But when it did your mom or dad told you to get back on and try it again. Even though your fall may have been painful you were determined to give it yet another try.  And you kept trying and trying until finally you began to ride. How proud you were to have accomplished the feat. So go ahead and make those resolutions and you just might ride off into the sunset.

The Greatest Gift

The greatest gift doesn't come in a fancy box with a pretty bow. Nor does it have an extravagant price tag to dazzle before the eyes of it recipient. The greatest gift can't be tasted like the finest of wines or worn like a beautiful creation tailored by a famous designer. The greatest gift can't be substituted like splenda for sugar or margarine for butter as simple as those may be.The greatest gift is so precious it can't be returned or replaced. The greatest gift that we can give is...The Gift of Time. Time to spend with those we love. Time to cherish the memories that gathering together brings no matter what season we are in. Lets Make the Gift of Time a gift on our list this year.  Merry Christmas!

What Are You Afraid Of?

No matter how strong or confident we may appear to be we all have something that scares us. Be it as simple as turning on your little night light in the bedroom because you are afraid to sleep in total darkness (like me) or major relevant insecurities of the future with the threat of deadly viruses, the recurrence of school shootings and a host of other devastating world events.

Being afraid in itself is not neccessarily a bad thing. You wouldn't stick you hand in a burning flame or stand in front of a moving bus now would you? No, our fears along with common sense protects us from hurt, harm and danger. In contrast when we let our fears take control of our lives to the point of placing invisible bars around us, this is the time that fear becomes our enemy. Fear can cripple us by taking away the ability to live a productive, happy and whole life. There is nothing wrong with being afraid, especially for the movies buffs who would be amiss without the horror films. Or for those of us who love the spell bounding reads of Stephen King and so many others authors like him who raises the beat of our hearts.

Being afraid is a part of life like any other emotion we have. It is good to be afraid sometimes so long as we don't allow our fears to dictate how we live our lives.

Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be Strong and courageous . Do not be frighten, and do not be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Are You A Game Changer?

The definition of a 'Game Changer' is someone who has new and different ideas that stands out from the crowd. A Game Changer is a person with a vision and is not afraid to go after it in spite of the risks. A Game Changer listens to the beat of his or her drums and dances to the sway of the music even if no one else understands it. Game Changers keep the world evolving regardless of the negativity, obstacles and fear that is a part of their daily lives. In 2 Timothy 1:7 it states that For God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Seems like God is trying to tell us something. Are You A Game Changer?

Is it Time to Let Go?

How many unhealthy relationships will we experience before we wise up, realizing we are only hurting ourselves by staying in them? It is experienced multiple times through friends, family and even myself years ago with crippled insecurity. We endure unhealthy relationships that practically drags us through the mud so to speak just so we can keep up the image of a happy union. While some of us may find the courage to leave for good as I did, others return for a second or third helping. They are bedazzled with promises of a new beginning only to end up with more heart ache and pain. Relationships are never easy and I'm not saying by no means that we should jump ship at the first sign of trouble waters. But what if the boat is sinking. Should we stay on board and drown? If you and your significant other have tried unsuccessfully to work things out, going as far as getting outside help and things haven't change... or change for the moment only to return to its unbearable present state. Then it may be time to let go. Life is too short to constantly be burden down with bitterness and strife. Letting go may be the best thing you both can do for each other. Of course it won't be easy, frankly it may be one of the hardest thing you'd ever had to do. But when all is said and done, you both will be a more healthier and happier person with piece of mind and a better outlook on life. And that in itself will be well worth it.

How Much Junk Are You Carrying Around?

HOW MUCH JUNK ARE YOU CARRYING AROUND?

We are always getting rid of stuff. It would be hard-pressed on Saturday mornings not to find numerous Yard Sale signs scattered about like lilies in a field. Sellers are seeking to rid themselves of things that are no longer wanted or needed. Clothing once adored is now out-dated, or either too big or like some of us baby boomers too small due to our muffin top waistline. Other sellers maybe seek to unload furniture that was once treasured only to be replaced by new modern pieces. Be it toys, gadgets, pictures or bedding the whole idea is to get rid of items making room for new things to take their places.
If only we could do the same thing for our most precious possession…our heart.  If we took the time to take inventory of what is filling it up with unnecessary things such as anger, hate, jealousy, bitterness, and selfishness. Not to mention harboring grudges that hinders us from having relationships with others. Getting rid of these things will leave our heart light and free leaving space for kindness, patience, caring, joy and forgiveness. So when we are out looking for the best bargain or precious find look beyond the physical items and with our hearts free from the junk we once carried we will have room for what really matters in life.

Dark Side of Love

EXCERPT FOR DARK SIDE OF LOVE

The trio howled as they ran through the thick forest as fast as lighting. It was mid-night. A full moon guided their path as they headed up the hill towards the castle, a night of terror for the human race. The trio had fetched a total of sixty hearts and forty livers, not bad for a single night. They took from the young as well as the old catching them off guard as they travelled to and fro while others slept peacefully in their beds. Now, they made their way back to the river.

At the edge, they threw their prizes down and went into transition. Fur became skin and paws became hands as they returned to an upright position. They retrieved their clothing which had been hidden behind a tree a few feet away along with an ice chest. The leader of the trio gathered their loot and placed everything into the chest. Two men and a woman left the woods carrying the chest.
This is a dark read that will keep you in suspense until the very end.
